Eddie Jones (1998-2000)

The only shooting guard to ever be named an NBA All-Star while with the Hornets, Eddie Jones is a player who would likely rank higher on this list had his time in Charlotte been longer. However, he spent just one and a half seasons in the Queen City. Nonetheless, his time with the Hornets was impressive, as he led the team in scoring in both of his seasons in Charlotte.

Jones’ accolades while in Charlotte include two NBA All-Defensive team selections, the aforementioned All-Star selection (2000), and an All-NBA Third Team selection (2000). His stellar play helped lead the Hornets to the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference in 2000, tied for their best finish ever. Unfortunately, Charlotte would fall in five games to the Philadelphia 76ers, who were led by Allen Iverson and his 25.8 points per game.

Jones entered free agency in the ensuing offseason. Wanting to return to his hometown and play for the Miami Heat, Jones was ultimately dealt to Miami in a sign-and-trade alongside Ricky Davis, Dale Ellis, and Anthony Mason. In return, the Hornets acquired P.J. Brown, Rodney Buford, Tim James, Jamal Mashburn and Otis Thorpe.

Jones concluded his Hornets career with averages of 19.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists across 106 games.
