The Charlotte Hornets are off to a slow start in the preseason, compiling an 0-2 record in games against the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers so far.

They will make the short trip on I-85 to Greensboro, North Carolina for tonight’s matchup with the Celtics. This will mark Charlotte’s first preseason game in Greensboro since October 6th, 2016, in a game that also featured the Boston Celtics.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Boston Celtics: Injury Report

Hornets: Gordon Hayward (knee), Cody Martin (knee), and Dennis Smith Jr. (personal reasons) are all DOUBTFUL for tonight’s game.

Forward Xavier Sneed, who returned for his second stint with the Hornets on Thursday, is listed as day-to-day.

Scottie Lewis (leg) remains OUT.

Celtics: Luke Kornet (ankle) is listed as day-to-day. He has not appeared in either of Boston’s preseason games so far.

Robert Williams (knee) and Danilo Gallinari (ACL) are OUT.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Boston Celtics: Prediction

The Hornets come into tonight’s matchup in need of some positive momentum. They have struggled mightily in their shooting so far in the preseason, going a combined 68/197 (34.5%) from the field and 14/76 (18.4%) from three-point range.

Jalen Crutcher, who made his only three-point attempt, currently leads the Hornets with a 1.000 three-point percentage. Beyond that outlier, Terry Rozier has been the second-best at just 28.6% from beyond the arc.

Although the Celtics dropped their most recent outing in a 125-119 overtime matchup against the Toronto Raptors, Boston’s main unit built an 18-point advantage through three quarters.

With the Celtics already having shown that they can handle the Hornets, not much projects to be different in tonight’s matchup unless Charlotte begins to turn their three-point shooting woes around.
