Limit Trae Young to 25 points or less – Trae Young has a 5-7 record in 12 regular season games against the Hornets during his first four seasons. In those games, the Hawks are 2-7 when Young scores 25 points or less and 3-0 when he scores more than 25 points.

Charlotte Hornets at Atlanta Hawks: Key Matchup

P.J. Washington vs. John Collins

Look no further than Charlotte’s first two games to see the value of P.J. Washington. In the season opener, Washington had 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three blocks on 58.3% shooting as the Hornets coasted to the win. It was a different story on Friday night against the New Orleans Pelicans, as Washington had just 10 points and three rebounds, two assists, and one block on 30.8% shooting in a Hornets loss.

John Collins has had an excellent start to the season, as he currently ranks as the Hawks’ second-leading scorer and their leading rebounder. The sixth-year man from Wake Forest averaged 18.0 points and 8.3 rebounds on 59.5% shooting in three games against the Hornets a season ago.

Look for the battle of the stretch fours to play a major role in deciding the outcome of this contest.

Charlotte Hornets at Atlanta Hawks: Prediction

Back in the same building where they suffered a humiliating 132-103 defeat in last season’s play-in tournament, the Hornets should have a sizeable chip on their shoulder for this matchup. However, that chip will not be enough to carry them to the win against a superior team.

Final score prediction – Hawks 115, Hornets 100
