Charlotte Hornets at Memphis Grizzlies: Key Matchup

Kelly Oubre Jr. vs. Desmond Bane

With the projected absences of Ball, Rozier, and Hayward, Kelly Oubre Jr. will need to step up in a major way for the Hornets to have a chance in this one. The eighth-year veteran has averaged 17.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while shooting 36.8% from three-point range. Oubre had a remarkable performance the last time Charlotte played in Memphis, as he scored 37 points to lead the Hornets to a 118-108 victory.

Desmond Bane tends to fly under the radar compared to backcourt teammate Ja Morant, but Bane has had a tremendous start to the season in his own right. The third-year guard from TCU is averaging 24.9 points, 5.0 assists, and 5.1 rebounds and is shooting 46.9% from three-point range.

Charlotte Hornets at Memphis Grizzlies: Prediction

A second road game in three days is a tall task for any team, much less a team that figures to be without its top three players and its primary defensive guard. While Charlotte has continued to play hard, they will continue to struggle until Ball, Rozier, Hayward, and Martin can return to the floor.
