The Charlotte Hornets fell to the Cleveland Cavaliers by a final margin of 132-122 in a double overtime contest on Friday night.
Kelly Oubre Jr. led the way for Charlotte with 34 points, while Darius Garland had 41 points to lead Cleveland.
With the loss, the Hornets are now 4-13 on the season.

The Hornets had three players score at least 28 points, with Oubre Jr. (34), Terry Rozier (28) and P.J. Washington (28) all chipping in. Oubre Jr.’s 34 points are the most by any Hornets player this season, while the 28 points are a new season high for Rozier.
Fourth quarter rally
Trailing by 12 entering the final quarter, the Hornets outscored the Cavaliers by a 35-23 margin to force the game into overtime. The 35 points are the sixth-most by the Hornets in any of the 68 quarters of basketball they have played this season. It is also the second-most in any of the 17 fourth quarters they have played this season.

Overtime woes continue
The Hornets fought admirably to send the game into overtime and held serve in the first overtime period to force the game into a second overtime. However, they ran out of steam in the second overtime as Cleveland won the period by a 12-2 margin. The Hornets have now lost 12 of their last 13 overtime games dating back to the 2020-21 season and are 1-3 in overtime games this season.
Cleveland’s stars enjoyed a big night
Darius Garland registered 41 points, the most by any player in a game against Charlotte this season. Meanwhile, Donovan Mitchell recorded 34 points of his own, good for the third-most by any player in a game against Charlotte this season. Second-year big man Evan Mobley grabbed 18 rebounds, good for a new career high and good for the second-most by any player in a game against Charlotte this season.
