The Charlotte Hornets earned their third win in their last four games, beating out the Washington Wizards by a final score of 117-116 in front of their home crowd.

Terry Rozier led the way for Charlotte with 25 points, while Bradley Beal had 33 points to lead Washington.

With the win, the Hornets are now 7-15 on the season.

What went right for the Charlotte Hornets?

Three-point shooting

The Hornets shot 12/29 (41.4%) from three-point range, marking their fifth-best performance from beyond the arc through the season’s first 22 games.

Six different players made at least one three-pointer for Charlotte, led by Terry Rozier’s five triples.

Taking care of the ball

The Hornets had just four turnovers, marking their season low. In fact, it was the fewest turnovers by the Hornets since March 9th, 2020, when they had only three turnovers in a game against the Atlanta Hawks.

What went wrong for the Charlotte Hornets?

The entire fourth quarter

After leading by 19 points entering the fourth quarter, the Hornets nearly managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, surviving Bradley Beal’s shot attempt in the closing seconds to escape with the victory.

Washington outscored Charlotte by a 28-10 margin in the final 12 minutes, marking Charlotte’s worst point differential in the 22 fourth quarters that they have played this season.

James Bouknight continues to be a disappointment

After playing a combined 39 minutes over Charlotte’s last two contests, James Bouknight drew a DNP- coach’s decision in tonight’s contest. While the return of Terry Rozier from illness was always likely to cut into any potential Bouknight minutes, the fact that rookie guard Bryce McGowens is seemingly ahead of Bouknight in the rotation is a bad omen for the second-year player out of UConn. While he still has time to turn things around, Bouknight’s tenure in Charlotte has objectively been a disappointment so far.
