Third quarter woes continue

Trailing by just six points entering the third quarter, the Hornets would be outscored in the penultimate frame by a 34-22 margin, as the Knicks turned a close contest into a rout. Somehow, the point differential of -12 was only Charlotte’s fifth worst in the 26 third quarters they have played this season. The Hornets now have a -34 cumulative third quarter point differential, the eighth-worst mark in the league.

Yet another blowout loss

The 19-point margin of defeat is the fourth worst for the Hornets this season. Charlotte has now suffered 10 losses by double digits and is now tied with the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers for the second-most behind the San Antonio Spurs (12).

Charlotte now has a point differential of -165 for the season, the third-worst mark in the league behind the Spurs (-274) and the Detroit Pistons (-199).
