The Charlotte Hornets were no match for the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday night, falling to their Eastern Conference foe by a final score of 131-113.
As has been the case lately, Terry Rozier and Kelly Oubre Jr. carried the scoring for Charlotte, each chipping in 29 points to lead the visitors. Meanwhile, Joel Embiid had a monstrous 53-point effort to carry the 76ers.
With the defeat, the Hornets are now 7-20 on the season, the second-worst mark in the league ahead of only the Detroit Pistons (7-22).

They become the first Hornets player(s) to achieve this distinction since Kemba Walker did so during the 2017-18 season. In addition, Rozier knocked down the 1,000th three-pointer of his career, joining Gordon Hayward as the only players on Charlotte’s roster to have done so.

The Hornets went 26/30 (86.7%) from the foul line, marking a new season high in free throws made. Their 86.7% conversion rate from the foul line was their fifth-best in a game through the first 27 games of the season and was well above their season average of 73.7%.

Joel Embiid recorded a stat line of 53 points and 12 rebounds, marking the second-highest scoring output of his career. Embiid’s 53 points is the seventh-most ever scored by a player against Charlotte and is the most since DeMarcus Cousins had 56 points on January 25th, 2016.
Philadelphia’s assist totals
Philadelphia recorded 31 total assists, their second-most in a game this season. James Harden led the way with 16 assists of his own, the most by any player against the Hornets this season.
