Kendall Gill
The fifth overall pick in 1990, Gill came into the league as a scorer from the University of Illinois. He averaged 11 points a game during his rookie year and jumped to 20 the next. The jump was due, in part, to Rex Chapman’s trade to the Bullets. His rookie campaign was good enough to earn first-team All-Rookie. Gill holds the distinction of being the only Hornets player on this list to return to the Hornets after his first sting.
Gill also helped the Hornets to the franchise’s first postseason appearance in 1993. In the first-round win against the Boston Celtics, Gill averaged nearly 20 points a game in the gentleman’s sweep. After a short stint with the Seattle Sonics, he was shipped back to the Hornets, but never had the scoring punch he had earlier. He once led the league in steals as a Nets player. This makes sense because he’s number eight overall in franchise history in theft.
