Depth/Bench scoring

The Hornets are 28th in bench scoring efficiency. The team never really replaced Devonte’ Graham as a playmaker off the bench. Graham’s shooting and assists helped to make those teams hum. Dennis Smith Jr. currently has that role. While he is an avid defender and can create for others, he is limited offensively because of his poor jump shot.

Any player taken in the draft would likely be an offensive addition to the slumping Hornets. That said, given the slower development of Williams and Steve Clifford’s history, he would likely be a bench player. Perhaps adding a player like Reggie Jackson (ironically, a player they traded for in the Mason Plumlee deal and immediately bought out) would be perfect.

Jackson has always been an aggressive point guard. He’s averaged 15 or more points three different times over the course of his 11-year career. Plus, given Ball’s injury history, he could step in a start if required and would be an excellent veteran presence to add to a team full of young players.
