2. Brandon Miller turns out to be the wrong pick for the Hornets

Every few years or so it becomes obvious pretty early that a team made the wrong pick at or near the top of the draft. There was a widely accepted expectation that the Charlotte Hornets would take Scoot Henderson with the second overall pick but instead opted for Alabama’s Brandon Miller. This pick left so many people stunned as it seemed impossible that the Hornets would pass up the opportunity to select the highly regarded Henderson.

The general consensus of Miller’s summer league performance was mixed at best. Inefficient shooting performances and a tendency to commit fouls were what stood out the most. Struggles to some extent are expected when a rookie plays in summer league, it is just that Miller seemed to struggle more than anyone expected and that is something to monitor moving forward. Even though it is summer league and it means nothing in the big picture, every once in a while it can provide a preview of things to come and occasionally it is not a good one.

If Miller turns out to be a miss while Henderson ends up being the player everyone thought he could and more, it would be an absolute disaster in Charlotte. The Hornets NEED Miller to be a player who works out as they look to put together a roster alongside LaMelo Ball that can be competitive down the line.
