Brandon Miller

Hornets rookie Brandon Miller is yet to play in an actual game, but taking into consideration how he ended up in Charlotte makes his rookie campaign extremely important. Miller was not the favorite to head to Charlotte as the second overall pick as that honor belonged to Scoot Henderson. The Hornets stunned the entire league by taking Miller and bypassed the expected selection of Henderson, leaving him available to be taken with the next pick by Portland. It was at that point unfair expectations were placed upon Miller whether he liked them or not.

From now until the end of their careers, Miller and Henderson will always be compared to each other. There have been previous situations almost exactly like this where a team passes over a player they were expected to draft and end up regretting it in the end. Charlotte is hoping that they made the right pick in Miller and did not make a mistake by passing over the favorite in Henderson. Miller is someone they are counting on to be an impact player from the jump and contribute to the efforts of returning to being a competitive franchise. If things do not work out and Miller is not the player the Hornets thought he was, heads will roll for anyone involved in the decision.
