3 reasons why the Charlotte Hornets should trade for Jarrett Allen
Allen’s experience could prove valuable
This is not necessarily the most exciting thing to account for when assessing a potential trade, but having someone with the experience of Jarrett Allen is very valuable. Outside of Gordon Hayward (13) and Terry Rozier (8), the most experienced player on the team is Frank Ntilikina, and he is far from guaranteed to make the roster. Miles Bridges and Cody Martin (4) are the next-most experienced players on the Hornets’ roster.
When focusing specifically on the Hornets’ big men, Allen (6) has the same amount of experience as Nick Richards (3), Kai Jones (2), and Mark Williams (1) combined. Finding a way to insert someone into this mix with more than five years of experience as an NBA center. Interestingly enough, Allen is younger than Richards and has double the NBA experience.
Even if the Hornets do not end up trading for Allen, finding someone to supplement their group of big men would be a wise decision. There are plenty of talented bigs in the league, and the still-unknown status of what Charlotte has should create a little bit of urgency in this area. The current group has long-term potential, but they need to improve in the short term if they are going to rebound this season.
