Stephen Jackson – 2010
Another player from the Bobcats era, Stephen Jackson. Jackson did not begin the year in Charlotte, being traded from Golden State after just 10 games in November 2009, but managed to make an impact for the Bobcats in 72 games.
Jackson would post career-highs in points with 21.1 per game while tying his career-high from the year before in rebounds (5.1). The then 31-year-old veteran would help lead the Bobcats to their best record since professional basketball returned to Charlotte in 2004 at 44-38. It was also the first of just three postseason appearances for the franchise since returning, losing to eventual Eastern Conference champion Orlando Magic four games to none.
Even with all the firsts for Charlotte and Jackson recording a career-high in points, he finished tied for 12th with Chauncey Billups, Chris Bosh, and Joe Johnson with one point and zero first-place votes. Winning the MVP was LeBron James during his first stint with the Cavaliers, recipient of 116 first-place votes and 1,205 points.
Like Jefferson after him, Jackson would only spend one more season in Charlotte after a distant finish in MVP voting. Jackson would spend time with the Bucks, Spurs, and Clippers before retiring in the summer of 2015.
