Charlotte Hornets: When does NBA Training Camp start?

It’s been a long off-season for Charlotte Hornets fans. Missing out on the playoffs always makes the summer feel that little bit longer as you watch other teams compete for the biggest prize in basketball. Then there’s the draft and free agency. And then, it’s September, and you’re lingering around waiting for the new season to begin.

Fortunately, the FIBA World Cup has provided basketball-starved fans with a slight reprieve, but that will be short-lived. However, training camp is right around the corner, and with it, players begin their battles for rotation minutes and roster spots.

Charlotte has taken advantage of the new rule, which allows NBA teams to carry 21 players into training camp, recently adding four more names to their squad. Frank Ntilikina and JT Thor are on non-guaranteed deals, so they will certainly be feeling the heat now that so many players will be fighting to earn a spot with the Hornets for next season.

When does the Charlotte Hornets training camp start?

Every year, the NBA releases a list of key preseason dates, including details regarding the start of preseason. As the Hornets will not be competing in preseason games outside of North America, the earliest their veteran players can report to their team is October 2. Then, on October 3, training camp begins.

When does the Charlotte Hornets preseason start?

Preseason officially begins when the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves face off in Abu Dhabi. However, for the Hornets, games will start slightly later, giving them some additional practice time.

For the Hornets, preseason will begin on October 10 – three days after the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers play the first preseason game of the summer. The Hornets will start their preseason schedule against the Miami Heat before games against the Washington Wizards, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Boston Celtics.

When does the Charlotte Hornets preseason end?

The Charlotte Hornets will play their last preseason game on October 19. Preseason officially ends on October 20.

When does the Charlotte Hornets season begin?

The NBA regular season begins on October 24. However, the Charlotte Hornets will play their first game of the season on October 26 when they face the Atlanta Hawks.
