Overall, the proposed trade is a win, win, win for all parties involved. The Miami Heat get Damian Lillard, who they have spent the entire summer pining over. The Portland Trail Blazers get multiple young developmental talents and first-round draft picks. And the Hornets get two young, proven players to help build out their roster and make a push for the postseason.

With three teams involved in the proposed trade, there are a lot of moving parts, which makes a deal of this nature far more complex and harder to get over the line.

However, if all three teams believe they can come away from the trade in a better position to reach their short and medium-term goals, then finding common ground should be viable.

Overall, this trade proposal receives an A because it makes each team better (or, in Miami’s case, gives them what they want) and solves issues for each roster. No trade is perfect; there is always something more that could be added or taken away. Yet, by bringing the Hornets into the deal as the third team, Coelho has made some difficult trade discussions appear like they could go a lot smoother.

Final Grade: A.
