Collin Sexton is currently in his first season with the Charlotte Hornets. With the Hornets likely to miss the playoffs, however, Sexton could end up getting traded later in the season. One has to imagine Charlotte will at least consider the idea -- but will teams be interested in acquiring Sexton? Sam Vecenie recently addressed the question during an episode of Game Theory Podcast w/ Sam Vecenie.

"If the Bucks could find a way to get him, I do think it would be very valuable... Dallas, we will see how they continue to move forward," Vecenie said.

Will the Hornets trade Collin Sexton?

Sexton has started three of the five games he has appeared in so far with the Hornets. He's averaging 18.6 points, 4.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds per outing while shooting 60 percent from the field and 64.3 percent from beyond the arc. Sure, he will not maintain those incredible shooting efficiency numbers all season long, but Sexton is more than capable of making a significant impact for any team in the league.

Teams such as the Mavericks and Bucks could make sense as landing destinations. In all reality, many teams could use a reliable veteran guard like Sexton. He is a bit under-sized, but Sexton is a crafty scorer who plays hard on both sides of the ball.

The Hornets will have extra motivation to trade him since he is on an expiring contract. Sexton is making just under $19 million this year before entering free agency. At 26 years old, that also means Sexton has extra motivation to play especially well -- as he will want to land a lucrative contract once free agency comes around.

Being traded to a contender could give Sexton an opportunity to showcase his play in the postseason. As a result, he would surely welcome a trade. With that being said, he will likely produce especially impressive numbers in Charlotte, since the Hornets do not feature as much depth as other teams.

Either way, a trade is certainly a realistic possibility. The deadline is not until February so Charlotte does not have to rush anything. Sexton will be a player to watch once trade rumors begin to heat up, however.

Overall, this Hornets squad holds a 2-3 record heading into their next game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. That contest will be played in Charlotte at 6 PM EST on Saturday night.
