The Charlotte Hornets proved that it can win, and win big following its match against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night.
Charles Lee and co. won by a commanding margin as the final score read 123-92. LaMelo Ball, whose All-Star snub was refuted by Chandler Parsons, proved why he should have been honored to be voted in as a starter. He scored 25 points and added five rebounds and seven assists.
Miles Bridges recorded 22 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Josh Green tacked on 13 points of his own. And veteran guard Seth Curry piled on 16 points off the bench, shooting 4-6 from three-point land. Vasilije Micic entered the double figure category too, scoring 11 points.
At the end of the game, the Hornets had five different players scoring at least 10 points — everyone seemed dangerous on the offensive end and made it a challenge for the Pelicans to guard.
It should also be mentioned that Moussa Diabate grabbed the most rebounds with 13 in 29 minutes of action off the bench.
Seth Curry speaks highly of team's largest-margin victory this season
Can we see more of these performances from Charlotte moving forward? What adjustments does Charles Lee need to make to keep up this level of play? These are the questions that have arisen after seeing the team's best outing all season long.
Well, considering that the Hornets have Ball on the squad, it should make life easier to see continuous success.
Curry, not Stephen Curry (maybe one day, who knows), talked to the media following the win and spoke out about how hard it is to guard the team when everyone is firing on all cylinders.
Speaking to Shannon Spake and Terrence Oglesby after the Saturday bout, he said, "We're doing it together. It's like you said — everyone is getting a piece of the pie. We're driving the ball, moving it around — just really finding the open man. It's hard to guard a team that everybody is a threat."
Seth Curry is right, It is hard to guard an opposing team when everyone is a threat, and the Hornets proved it. The talent is there, and, not to mention, the rotation is even missing guys such as Brandon Miller and Grant Williams due to season-ending injuries. Also, it's up in the air, but Tre Mann is hovering around a possible surgery that may effectively and immediately end his season too.
However, despite the injuries the Hornets found a way. And that's all fans could ask for.
