2024 NBA Mock Draft 1.0: Hornets trade No. 6 pick, Grizzlies land top star
By Jack Simone
17. Isaiah Collier, USC | Los Angeles Lakers
Perhaps this isn’t the USC guard most fans want to see the Los Angeles Lakers select, but Isaiah Collier’s strength at the guard spot would give them a different look. He’s a solid playmaker and can defend well, too, which would be very useful in LA’s rotation.
18. TRADE | Nets get No. 18 pick, Joe Ingles; Magic get Dennis Schroder
Nets select Carlton Carrington, Pittsburgh
The Orlando Magic need a guy who can get them organized on the offensive end, and bringing Dennis Schroder for a year (at least) would give them someone who can do that.
Schroder has proven capable of leading offenses at the NBA level and on the world stage, and giving up the 18th pick in a weak draft for him makes sense.
Meanwhile, this would be a way for the Brooklyn Nets to get in this draft, as they currently don’t have a selection. And they should be looking to add young talent.
Carlton Carrington has been gaining a ton of buzz heading up to the draft. He’s one of the youngest prospects available, and the Nets could try to develop him into a quality playmaker. (Though his skill set may be too similar to Cam Thomas.)
