3 Hornets who need a monster second half to save their job
By Ben Handler
Now that the trade deadline and all-star break have come and gone, we can start to dig into the second half of the NBA season. The last few weeks have ushered in lots of change for the Hornets franchise, both on and off the court.
Surely, this is only the beginning of a long process that will see plenty more change over the years to come. But for now, it seems the team is mostly settled, at least for the rest of this season.
Even in just the last three games, the rotation has settled into a nice clear 9 man lineup, featuring Cody Martin, Tre Mann, Miles Bridges, Brandon Miller, and Nick Richards starting, and Grant Williams, Vasilije Micic, Seth Curry, and Davis Bertans coming off the bench.
The only way I anticipate that rotation changing dramatically is if (and hopefully when) LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams return from injury. At that point, I would imagine Bertans may get bumped from the rotation as the Hornets roll with 10 guys.
So that will be the team down the stretch, and almost all of those players will be fighting to solidify some type of role going forward, whether in Charlotte or somewhere else in the NBA. But the situation is extremely static for now, with very few pieces actually locked in for the long term. Here are 3 Hornets who will need a monster second half to save their job.
