The 2024 NBA trade deadline was a busy one for the Charlotte Hornets, as the team was extremely active. Ultimately they made three separate trades during the season, shipping out veterans, Terry Rozier, Gordon Hayward, and P.J. Washington.

Not only that, but they also waived several players to make room for the new players brought in via trades. And yet, the deadline could have been even busier, as multiple players were in trade rumors, but weren’t moved.

The only players on the team who truly seemed safe from trade rumors were the three core young players, LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and Mark Williams. Currently, those are the three building blocks for the next era of Hornets basketball.

Everyone else on the roster was available and most players saw their names appear in trade rumors leading up to the deadline, with several obviously being dealt, and only a precious few staying put.

But just because players weren’t dealt before the deadline doesn’t mean they won’t be eventually. This is going to be a long rebuilding process for the Hornets, and the deadline moves were only one small step.

The core young players remain the same, and there will undoubtedly be more moves this offseason, next trade deadline, and further down the road. Let’s take a look at three players who may have survived the 2024 trade deadline, but may not be in Charlotte for long.
