The new guys

As for the new guys, Grant Williams, in his brief career, has shown the ability to give big two-way minutes in playoff games for a title contender. He’s been around, and he’s brought a vocal and physical energy with him. He’s a tough player, who won’t back down and will play the right way, with a focus on winning at all costs. He’ll dive on the floor for a loose ball, he’ll take charges from bigger players, and he’ll be the first guy to get in somebody’s face when needed.

It’s hard to understate how much a player like that was needed in Charlotte, and his impact is glaring immediately. The fact that he is knocking down corner threes and hails from Buzz City are nice little bonuses.

Another veteran from Charlotte who has been brought in and made an instant impact is Seth Curry. Seth grew up watching his dad, Dell light it up for the Hornets, and now he gets to follow in his footsteps while Dad watches from the sidelines and announces the games.  What more could you want to hear from a newly added vet than what he tells Will Eudy of FanSided here?

But beyond the obvious good vibes, Curry has brought more veteran leadership and much-needed sharp-shooting. Curry’s ability to come in and score 18 points Monday night in 18 minutes on just 11 field goal attempts is monumental. And it's clear his new coach, Steve Clifford appreciates having Seth around.

Vasilije Micic may be an NBA rookie, but he’s been through countless battles in the Euro League, ending up as their final-four MVP on multiple occasions. This guy knows how to win and we’re seeing what he can do running an offense and passing the ball, as he’s already shown the ability to reliably lead the offense during crunch-time situations.

Everyone knew about Tre Mann’s shooting ability but I’ve been dazzled by his playmaking, going for 16 assists in just two games. Bertans hasn’t played as much, but he’s still a reliable vet who can shift a defense with his gravity as a shooter.
