Charlotte Hornets finalize new front office structure
By Evan Sidery
It’s been a very busy offseason already for the Charlotte Hornets. Not only has a new general manager been put into place, Jeff Peterson from the Brooklyn Nets, but as is a new head coach in Boston Celtics lead assistant Charles Lee.
As Lee puts together the final touches on his own coaching staff, Peterson has wrapped up his restructuring of a brand new front office.
Charlotte officially announced three more additions joining Peterson’s group: Dotun Akinwale as assistant general manager, Ryan Gisrel as VP of Basketball Operations and Patrick Harrel as VP of Basketball Insights and Strategy.
Akinwale arrives from the Atlanta Hawks, which included spending years alongside Peterson there as well.
Gisrel arrives from the Nets where he and Pterson worked together. He served as their Executive Director of Basketball and Business Operations.
Harrel joins the organization after working for the NBA league office as Senior Director of Basketball Strategy.
All of these hires again follow a similar vision aligned from ownership. Young, innovative, forward-thinking minds are littered throughout the Hornets’ front office now.
Major props to Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin, because Charlotte’s overall front office facelift is impressive with an aligned goal in mind.
