The Charlotte Hornets won’t have a ton of money to spend in free agency this year, but they will have their MLE, and there could be some intriguing names available to them on the open market.

Perhaps the Hornets want to roll with rookie Tidjane Salaun at the starting power forward spot, but he’s still super young and may need some time to develop before stepping into a big role like that.

Because of his position on the team, the Hornets may not want to invest a ton of money into a potential starting power forward, and maybe they would rather just place Grant Williams or Miles Bridges into that spot.

But if they want to bring Williams off the bench and move Bridges, here are five guys they could potentially snag to pair with Brandon Miller at the forward spots.

1. Xavier Tillman

There’s a chance the Hornets see Xavier Tillman as more of a center, but they could definitely run him as a power forward next to Mark Williams, especially if they believe in his three-point shot.

Tillman will be a free agent this summer, and maybe the Boston Celtics want to bring him back. But Charles Lee has experience coaching him, and he would be a nice versatile piece to bring on board in Charlotte.

The big man’s versatile defense and comfortability making plays out of the short roll would fit in perfectly with the Hornets on both ends of the floor.

If they ran with him at the power forward spot, they would have a jumbo lineup filled with size, defensive versatility, and potential three-point shooting.
