Every Hornets fan needs to hear Kemba Walker's thoughts on LaMelo Ball
By Jack Simone
Despite the fact that they didn’t make any big moves, it’s been a really promising offseason for the Charlotte Hornets, who are hoping to exit the basement of the Eastern Conference and have been for the past few years.
First and foremost, they made a head coaching change, bringing in Charles Lee, who is seemingly determined to change the culture in Charlotte for the better.
They also signed Seth Curry and Taj Gibson, bringing in a veteran presence, and traded for Josh Green, who could be an intriguing part of their young core moving forward.
But perhaps the most fun move they made all summer was adding Kemba Walker to the coaching staff in a developmental role, as he just recently retired from the game of basketball.
Kemba Walker absolutely loves LaMelo Ball
Walker recently did an interview with the Hornets, which was posted to their YouTube channel. During the discussion, he shared his thoughts on LaMelo Ball, and every Charlotte fan should want to hear what he had to say.
"Super excited to get the opportunity to work with him. One of the reasons why I said yes to the job. Like I said, it just made sense. It just flowed. Yeah, we got Melo. Who [is an] unbelievable talent. Like, he’s special. Watching him on the court, I can really see this organization going really far. Obviously, we have to keep him healthy, which is one of the most important things. But if that kid stays healthy, man, this organization has a chance to go really far."

For years, Walker was the face of the Hornets franchise. He helped them make the playoffs for the first time in years and was the only bright spot during an otherwise terrible stretch of seasons in Charlotte.
Now, he’s the greatest player in franchise history, and he’s back on board as a coach to help this version of the Hornets go further than he could ever take the team.
When Walker left, Ball was right there to take his place. And when he’s been on the court, he’s been an incredible player, even making an All-Star team in a Hornets uniform. He just hasn’t been able to stay healthy.
But to hear Walker’s high praise for Ball should leave Hornets fans very excited about the future the team could have with him leading the way.
Anybody can talk about how great Ball is. How he’s an elite playmaker. A great shot-maker. One of the best young point guards in the NBA when he’s on the court.
But to hear it come out of the mouth of the same player who led the organization with pride for so many years should mean something extra for Hornets fans.
