The Charlotte Hornets have been scraping the bottom of the barrel in the Eastern Conference for years. Kemba Walker provided a light at the end of the tunnel, but that glow was snuffed out when he was signed and traded to the Boston Celtics.

However, things seem to be on the up and up. Charlotte brought in long-time assistant Charles Lee to lead them, and he’s fresh off a championship run with the Celtics.

But that’s not the only move that signals a brighter future ahead in Charlotte. Instead, it’s the last three moves the team has made that have sent them in a direction to reach their highest peak in the last decade.

Hornets bringing in Kemba Walker, Taj Gibson, and Seth Curry is indicator of bright future

First and foremost, they brought Walker back to town. The Hornets legend will be re-joining the team as a player development coach, helping usher in a new era of Charlotte basketball.

The Hornets also signed big man Taj Gibson. The veteran center has been in the league for 15 years, and Charlotte will be the seventh team he’s played for. There aren’t many players who would provide a better veteran presence.

Seth Curry was also re-signed by the Hornets, giving them yet another veteran to roll with. Curry’s connection to the Hornets runs deep, as his father, Dell Curry, is one of the best players in franchise history.

While Walker may be coaching and Gibson and Curry are on the roster, all three will help provide the same assistance to a young Hornets team in need of direction.

All three players have ample experience in the NBA and will be able to guide LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, Tidjane Salaun, and the rest of the squad moving forward.

By bringing in Lee, the Hornets set something great in motion. They are focused on bringing a new culture to Charlotte, and the moves to add Walker, Gibson, and Curry to the mix solidify that thought process.

Obviously, the Hornets will have to depend on their young core to lead them into the future, but if the last few years are any indicator, they need veterans around to help. Walker, Gibson, and Curry were even at Summer League to support that squad, along with the rest of the roster.

Everything the Hornets have done this summer has seemingly been with the goal of turning over a new leaf, and Walker, Gibson, and Curry joining the organization are the latest indicators.
