The Charlotte Hornets ended their road trip and faced off against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night in Milwaukee which didn't end well for the Hornets with a 123-85 loss. This game marked the fourth game in a row that the Bucks have defeated the Hornets.
The last time the Hornets won against Giannis and the Bucks was on January 6th, 2023 in Milwaukee. The Bucks have dominated since then, winning the next four games against the Hornets by an average of 26 points.
There weren't many positives from this game on the Hornets' end. Four players for Charlotte scored in double figures, with Miles Bridges leading the way with 17 points. On the other side, Milwaukee had three guys score more than 20 points. Giannis posted 24 points with one surprising three pointer going in.
Sharpshooter Davis Bertans for the Hornets came in and attempted to alleviate the damage being done by knocking down four three-pointers for 12 points in 15 minutes, which was very efficient. Damian Lillard flirted with a triple-double with 23 points, 7 assists, and 9 rebounds.
Simply put, the Hornets were just dominated this game in almost every statistical category. They shot 37% from the field while going 27.5% from behind the arc. The Bucks shot roughly 50% from the field and 40% from behind the 3-point line.
Charlotte grabbed 37 rebounds and dished out 24 assists compared to 51 rebounds and 29 assists from Milwaukee. It's important to note that the Bucks committed one more team foul than the Hornets. Usually, teams who have more foul trouble go on to end up losing but that wasn't the case in this game.
With this crushing loss, the Hornets are still 5-2 playing with their acquired pieces at the trade deadline which is fairly impressive. Although their record is 15-43, they've shown positive trends in the right direction, despite this embarrassing loss.
Next up is Milwaukee again on Thursday here in Charlotte. This will be the last time Charlotte sees Milwaukee this season. Hopefully, the team uses this loss as motivation going into Thursday's game and can squeeze out a win.
