Is LaMelo back tonight? Haliburton playing? Hornets injury report for 2/12
By Ben Handler
The 11-41 Hornets are rolling into Monday night’s game on a whopping one-game winning streak. The team is officially undefeated when new additions Grant Williams, Seth Curry, Davis Bertans, Tre Mann, and Vasilije Micic play.
The Indiana Pacers come to town on Monday to take on the Hornets at Spectrum Center and they’ll be facing all five of those new Hornets. The 30-24 Pacers made some changes of their own at the deadline, but their biggest move happened months ago, acquiring former All-NBA forward Pascal Siakam.
The Hornets have been playing without LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams for weeks now, but sending out Gordon Hayward via trade and buying out Kyle Lowry has certainly cleared up the injury report. For the Pacers, it’s been all about superstar Tyrese Haliburton and his hamstring lately. He’s been in and out of the lineup and hasn’t been able to kick his minutes restriction even when he has been playing. Here’s what fans can expect for tonight.
Hornets injury report
For Charlotte, the injury report is as clean as it’s been in ages, as it only features two players. That’s the good news. The bad news is that those two players are linchpins, LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams, and both are still listed as ‘Out’ with no timeline to return.
Ball seems to be progressing well and was seen warming up on the court in recent games, but his ankle is clearly still bothering him and there has been no concrete update. For Williams, it’s a back injury that has now kept him out for months and it may be at least another month until we even get an update.
It’s not a promising development for two of the franchise’s young stars, but otherwise, the Hornets will have a full complement of players.
Pacers injury report
The Pacers’ injury report is also fairly clean, only listing three players. As I mentioned, the big one is Haliburton, who is still listed as ‘Questionable’ with his balky hamstring and will likely be a game-time decision.
Recent signing James Johnson is also listed as ‘Questionable’ with an illness, but he is unlikely to play even when healthy. Big man Jalen Smith is also ‘Out’ tonight with a back injury.
The Pacers are currently listed as 9.5-point favorites. Let’s see if the Hornets can bump up their winning streak to two in a row.
