One of the greatest what-ifs in Hornets history. Despite receiving another all-time Hornets great in Glen Rice, trading Alonzo Mourning over contract disputes is something I'm sure haunts Hornets fans who were around to see it.

Something that has been a common theme whilst writing this list, Mourning had a short, albeit eventful three-year career as a Hornet. The second overall pick of the 1992 NBA Draft, he hit the ground running. He was an all-rookie team and made the All-Star team in two of the three seasons he played in North Carolina.

He was the focal point of probably the most iconic Hornets team ever. Mourning, LJ, Muggsy, and Dell Curry culminated in a team that was good enough that it took a game off the legendary '90s Bulls,
In the win against the Bulls, Mourning totaled 23 points and 20 rebounds. Displaying his superstar abilities against one of the best teams of all time.

Since being traded to Miami, the Georgetown big man won a championship in 2006, made 2 All-NBA teams, 7 All-Star teams, 2 Defensive Player of the years and many more awards. All of this culminating in a Hall of Fame career that started off in Charlotte.
