A trio of prospects, who are currently under contract, will reportedly play with the Charlotte Hornets’ summer league team during the offseason.

In order to get a better look at a few prospects, the Charlotte Hornets will have a few of their fringe players participate in the summer league this offseason. Treveon Graham, Briante Weber and Johnny O’Bryant will all be playing in Orlando. (Twitter/@JustinThomasNBA) All three of these players are expected to be fighting for a spot on next season’s roster.

They all only saw limited action with the Hornets during the regular season. Considering the fact that each prospect is under 25-years old, the summer league is a good place for them to develop their games. It also gives Charlotte a chance to get a better look at them.

Graham is the only one that was on the roster for the entirety of the season as the Hornets signed him to a two-year deal last July. He appeared in 27 games for Charlotte and even made one start. Despite only averaging 2.1 points per game, Steve Clifford always spoke highly of Treveon and he was impressive when given the opportunity in the final few games of the year.

As for Weber, he was signed mid-season for guard depth as the team was dealing with an injury to Ramon Sessions. He played in 13 games while averaging 3.8 points per game to go along with 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists. As one of the top prospects in the D-League last season, a number of NBA teams were after Briante because of his potential upside. The Hornets decided to sign him to a two-year deal after two 10-day contracts.

O’Bryant was also signed mid-season because of Charlotte’s injury problems. He only played in four games before suffering an ankle injury that kept him out from early March until the end of the season. He averaged 4.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in those four outings and did enough to impress the front office because they signed him to a two-year deal after his second 10-day contract expired.

Treveon is the most likely to stick with the team considering that he spent the full season with them and played particularly well when given the shot. Although, with a team option for next year, his future is still unclear. Both Briante and Johnny are on partially guaranteed deals which mean Charlotte can cut ties with them without owing them money. (Spotrac.com)

All three of these players should see ample minutes during the summer league and will likely battle for a final roster spot with Charlotte during training camp and preseason. The Hornets will want to make sure they know Graham, Weber and O’Bryant before making any final decisions and the summer league allows them to examine their games that much more.
