Buzz City Beat: Charlotte Hornets’ early mock draft, MJ responds to LaVar Ball
Welcome to Buzz City Beat, a daily roundup of the best articles from around the internet surrounding the Charlotte Hornets.
In Charlotte Hornets‘ news, Rich Cho is now on Twitter and showing off his BigTimeBites blog and Kemba Walker has landed in Johannesburg, South Africa. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at a way too early mock draft for next year, Michael Jordan‘s response to LaVar Ball and Dwight Howard‘s NBA 2K18 rating.
Hornets’ early mock draft for next year (BleacherReport.com)
"Bruce Brown was solid across the board as a freshman and should be poised for a bigger sophomore role and breakout. At 6’5″, he looks the part of a pro 2-guard and offers scoring, playmaking and defensive potential."
This mock draft has Charlotte drafting 11th overall in the lottery next year which means that they would miss out on the playoffs. BR has them picking Bruce Brown out of the University of Miami (Florida). He averaged 11.8 points per game, 3.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists last season while shooting 45.9% from the field and 34.7% from three.
After drafting Malik Monk this summer, I don’t see the Hornets drafting another shooting guard next year unless they decide to move either Michael Kidd-Gilchrist or Nicolas Batum. Considering that the 2018 NBA Draft is so far away, plenty of things will change before next June. Still, if the team was able to land Brown, he looks like a two-way wing player who could improve their roster.
MJ responds to LaVar Ball (USAToday.com)
"“He played, I think, college, maybe? He averaged 2.2 points per game. Really? It doesn’t dignify an answer, but I’m going to give it to you because you asked the question. I don’t think he could beat me if I was one-legged."
Somehow LaVar Ball continues to get coverage and now the GOAT has mentioned him. Jordan was right when he said that LaVar’s comment doesn’t dignify a response. No one really believes that the Ball father has or had any chance at ever beating Michael one on one.
It wouldn’t even be close. I would be surprised if LaVar could score more than one lucky basket on MJ. Even though Jordan didn’t need to address this, he did so in a humorous fashion and took a subtle shot at LaVar. After their back and forth, don’t expect Lonzo Ball to ever wear a Hornets’ jersey.
