SG: Malik Monk

Stats: 1 game, 23 PPG, 2.0 APG, 2.0 SPG, 1.0 RPG, 56% FG

Strength: Scoring/Shooting

Monk showed out in his only Summer League performance. He had an astounding 23 points off of 9/16 shooting. We all know Monk was one of the best shooters in the 2017 NBA Draft and he clearly showed us he was.

There were struggles in the middle of the season with his shooting so let’s hope that is in his past. If Monk wouldn’t have injured his thumb I believe he would’ve led the Hornets to the championship game. In my opinion, Monk will have a breakout year and greatly improve.

Must Read. Draft grades for the past 10 years. light

Weakness: Defense

Malik Monk is a great offensive weapon but doesn’t defend too well. Most of the time he is just not getting back on defense in time and the opposing team will take advantage of it. Not being a great defender affects your rebounding. Monk only had one rebound in a game where he played 28 minutes.

His rebounding numbers also weren’t great in the regular season. If you are 6’3 and can jump out of the gym like Malik, then your rebounding numbers need to go up. If Monk can get rebounds then the transition offense can start. The defense presence and the rebounding improves he will be a completely different player.
