Charlotte Hornets: Matching each player to a 2018 rap album
By Noah Elmore
Marvin Williams & Daytona by Pusha T
Specialists that turn in more of the same, and it’s more than enjoyable.
Returning from a three-year hiatus, the president of G.O.O.D. Music shines with his seven-track album. Daytona is a Kanye West produced album, but make no mistake, the bars are one hundred percent King Push’s. With more insights into the life of a major cocaine dealer, Pusha T’s third studio album has few faults.
Daytona’s biggest criticism is that it doesn’t last long enough. It was the first release of five Kanye-produced albums that were only seven tracks long. Among those seven, the best are “The Games We Play”, “Come Back Baby”, and “Santeria”.
Starting power forward Marvin Williams had a similar season. Charlotte knew what to expect from Williams – veteran leadership, switches on defense, and a killer three-point shot – and that’s what they got. Rap fans knew what to expect from Pusha T – thickly enunciated bars, cocaine raps, and a solid yeugh – and it’s what we got. Both were very good, and fans of both can only hope for more of the same.
