Memphis Grizzlies

  • ’18-19 Record: 33-49
  • ’18-19 Season Series: 2-0 (Hornets)
  • ’19-20 Advantage: Hornets

Hey, an advantage for the Charlotte Hornets! The Memphis Grizzlies are another team in the midst of a rebuild, and are in for another long season. They have a really promising young core in Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr and Brandon Clarke, but it’s going to take a while to put it all together, especially in the Western Conference.

They are slowly moving away from the grit-n-grind era and will be playing a much faster pace, which is going to be different. New Head Coach Taylor Jenkins has a plan in place, but it’s going to require patience.

The Grizzlies will likely be one of the worst teams in the league, and will be one of the teams that the Hornets can realistically stand toe-to-toe with. They only play twice a year, though, so we won’t be seeing them very often.

Much like with the Cavaliers, I think that the Grizzlies have a better future than the Hornets, but the Hornets veterans give them the edge, right now at least. It’s pretty clear that the 2019-20 season is going to be difficult for these two teams.
