Hurt: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

The odd man out in Charlotte is probably Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who enters the 2019-20 season on an expiring contract and without a role moving forward. If preseason means anything, it shows that MKG will only be used sparingly as the team focuses on developing their youth going forward.

While Kidd-Gilchrist can help any team with his defensive abilities, his time has appeared to run out in Charlotte. It’s very unlikely that he remains on the team past this season due to his dwindling role over the years.

During preseason, Kidd-Gilchrist appeared in just two games, averaging 3.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in 11.5 minutes of play. He’s coming off the worst season of his career, in which he averaged 6.7 points and 3.8 rebounds in 18.4 minutes.

I think those minutes will decline even more during the 2019-20 season. I think MKG is a good player, but it’s clear that the team is going in a different direction, and all hope has been lost in him developing into a legit two-way threat. His lack of offense has been his kryptonite since entering the league in 2012.

When he was on the court during preseason, he played pretty well, but overall, I’m not expecting to see him a whole lot during the season, which is what earns him a spot on this list.
