Charlotte Hornets: 5 players who will challenge Devonte’ Graham for Most Improved
Pascal Siakam
Last but certainly not least is Pascal Siakam, the reigning Most Improved Player of the Year. Can he win it for back-to-back years for the first time ever? It’s possible.
Siakam took a major leap forward last season playing next to Kawhi Leonard as the secondary option. He should have been an All-Star, averaging 16.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He also played a huge role in Toronto’s run to the NBA Championship last season.
With Kawhi Leonard signing with the Clippers during the off-season, Siakam had to take another jump and become the primary option. He has done just that, and he’s made it look effortless. He’s averaging an incredible 25.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists.
His efficiency has taken a dip, which should be expected, but still, shooting 38 percent from deep, 81 percent from the free-throw line and 46 percent overall is pretty darn good for a guy with so much offensive pressure.
Pascal Siakam is one of the biggest young stars in the league and continues to develop into something special. I’m not sure he will take him the Most Improved honors again this season, but he absolutely deserves to be in the conversation.
