Hornets News: P.J. Washington makes bold statement on Brandon Miller

Training camp might still be a few weeks away, but that hasn’t stopped Brandon Miller from impressing some of his new Charlotte Hornets teammates. During a recent appearance on the “Kyle Bailey Show” on WFNZ-FM, P.J. Washington revealed how the rookie has impressed him throughout the summer.
"“His work ethic stands out to me,” Washington said. “He is very skilled. He can do pretty much everything on the court. He has good size to him. I think he has all of the intangibles to be a good player in this league and I can’t wait for him to come out and show everything he has been working on. I think he is going to be great. He is going to be really good in Coach (Steve Clifford’s) system. He is going to turn a lot of heads this season, for sure.”"
Hornets fans got their first look at Miller during both Sacramento and Las Vegas Summer League. The Alabama product impressed throughout the tournament, averaging 15.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.
Miller has enjoyed a busy summer and has even been working out with current NBA talent, most notably his workouts with Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland.
The rookie wing is currently being floated as a ‘sleeper’ candidate to win Rookie of the Year honors at the end of next season. However, Miller will first need to concentrate on cracking the Hornets’ primary rotation and earning himself a spot in the starting five.
If Miller can cement himself in Charlotte’s starting unit and produce at a high level on both sides of the floor, he will undoubtedly find himself in the ROY race, along with having a genuine impact in the Hornets’ push to finally make the postseason and begin getting some playoff experience for their young contingent of players.
Of course, Charlotte will need better luck with injuries, which means having LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward available for the majority, if not all, of the upcoming season.
