Fans would undoubtedly be thrilled if the Charlotte Hornets were to have a representative in the 2026 All-Star Game. While LaMelo Ball might be the first person that comes to mind, Brandon Miller also has the potential to be in the mix, especially if he is able to develop his strength, per draft guru Sam Vecenie.

While talking about the players he anticipates breaking out this season, Vecenie mentioned Miller, saying that a "leap is gonna happen at some point" for the Hornets youngster. Vecenie also stated that for that to take place, Miller has to put on weight and build up his physicality. Once he achieves that, an All-Star bid is possible this season.

Such a scenario is definitely music to fans' ears, as the franchise has rarely had anyone to truly root for in the midseason showcase. In the past 15 years, only Ball and Kemba Walker, who earned the distinction three times as a Hornet, had been voted in.

Ball, as long as he is healthy, is expected to be a perennial All-Star candidate. He even had a strong case to be selected in the previous edition, especially after a lot of fans voted for him as a starter. Unfortunately, the players, coaches, and media did not agree, despite the event initially being created for the fans.

How awesome would it be if both Ball and Miller participate in the All-Star Game, though? That should cement the swingman's status as one of the league's elite.

Brandon Miller has to focus on his strength during this training camp

It's worth noting that Miller building up his strength, as Vecenie suggested, is easier said than done for now. He is still recovering from a wrist injury that cut significantly short his 2024-25 season, and taking it slow with his wrist looks like a good idea. The good news is that his progress appears to be coming along nicely.

Charlotte should also be thrilled that a seemingly forgotten rising star has received some All-Star buzz as early as now. He does have the talent to be counted as one of the 24 best players in the league, especially with his shot-creating skills and potential to be a secondary playmaker. Being able to keep up with the physicality that he is going to experience in his position, especially now that he will be manning the wing alongside the likes of Collin Sexton and Kon Knueppel, should fast-track his development.

Perhaps we should temper our All-Star expectations for Miller this year, as he has yet to display a clean bill of health. On the other hand, anything can happen for someone as gifted as the 22-year-old Hornet.
