Throughout their playing careers, brothers Stephen and Seth Curry have faced off against each other a number of times. But Friday night marked the first matchup since Seth was acquired by the Hornets.

There is, of course, some extra juice to this new iteration of the sibling rivalry, as they were born and raised in Charlotte while their father, Dell Curry played for the Hornets. Dell is now the color commentator for the team’s games on Bally Sports Charlotte.

The game itself ended up being a bit of a snoozefest, with both teams looking extremely sloppy, fairly typical of two teams playing on the second night of a back-to-back. Golden State won the game 97-84, but the night was defined by turnovers, missed shots, and a shoving match in the final 10 seconds.

A lengthy Draymond Green press conference overshadowed anything that happened on the court, and anything involving the Curry family. But it shouldn’t be lost in the shuffle, what a cool moment this was for the legendary basketball family.

Steph had an uncharacteristically poor night shooting the ball and finished the game with just 15 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 turnovers. He shot just 5/14 from the field and hit just 3/11 three-point attempts. It was ultimately enough for his team to get the win, but the Hornets did a very nice job defending the superstar.

Seth also had a quiet night, scoring just 6 points in 24 minutes off the bench on 2/8 shooting and 0/3 from three-point land.

But it was cool to see them out there competing on the biggest stage, with their father calling the action in real-time. Dell did a great job - as he always does - focusing on the game without too much bias or emotion. He was happy to chime in with some anecdotal stuff and was obviously able to go in-depth on the backgrounds of his sons, even breaking down their shooting forms, similarities, and differences.

It must have been an amazing moment for Dell, and he handled it with grace and professionalism while having fun and contributing to an always stellar broadcast.

The two teams will face off again on March 29th in Charlotte. Hopefully, Steph can get some nice home cooking and realize it’s time to fulfill his destiny and come home to play for the Hornets in the near future. Dare to dream.
