On Saturday, the Charlotte Hornets played in front of the home crowd for the first time in a little over three weeks. The opponents they faced were the Washington Wizards, owners of the league's worst record. So, it should have been the perfect opportunity for the Hornets to get back on the winning track and snap a five-game losing streak.
Instead, what happened was the Wizards proving their mastery of Charlotte. The visitors escaped with the 113-100 victory to complete a 4-0 sweep of the Hornets in their regular-season series.
It's not hard to imagine how frustrated the team might be, especially since four of Washington's dubs (or 36 percent) have come against Buzz City. The latest defeat has factored into the squad sinking further in the standings, as it now holds the second-worst record in the entire league.
Miles Bridges implies Hornets are worst team in the NBA
At the moment, Charlotte is three games ahead of the Wizards. However, with the way things are going, some folks might not be surprised if it ends up falling all the way to the bottom of the standings. Not that it matters, though, because Hornets veteran Miles Bridges appears to believe his team is the worst in the league this season.

“They are supposed to be the worst team in the league and they beat us four times,” he said. “So, what does that make us?”
Perhaps what's exasperating is that the Hornets have a bunch of talented, albeit flawed, players.
LaMelo Ball has the tools to become one of the NBA's top stars, but his impact on winning has continued to be questioned. Mark Williams has shown flashes of potential to become an elite big man, but his consistency has become a point of contention among fans. Brandon Miller had displayed some improvements in his sophomore year before going down with a season-ending injury, but his efficiency had actually taken a major dip compared to his rookie campaign.
Bridges has been one of Charlotte's most consistent contributors, although he had the worst plus/minus among all players in the Hornets-Wizards tiff on Saturday with -19 despite putting up 18 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists.
Of course, we can chalk up the squad's problems this season to injuries. However, that shouldn't be an excuse for the Hornets to just accept getting humiliated by opponents on a regular basis.
The organization must admit that significant changes must be made in the coming offseason to climb out of the NBA's bottom ranks. Where Bridges fits in the equation remains to be seen, but it's clear that he is dissatisfied with how the Hornets have performed in the 2024-25 campaign.
